The Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) has introduced a bill to KILL every states’ rights to label GMOs!!
The GMA said in February that it would seek to empower the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “to establish federal standards for companies that want to VOLUNTARILY label their product for the absence-of or presence-of GMO food ingredients.” GMA president Pamela Bailey said, “The legislation we’re proposing would preclude state legislation that conflicts with the federal standards.”
This is BAD legislation and we must take action to stop it!! The “Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act” (HR4432) was introduced recently by Rep. Pompeo (R-Kansas) but has already come to be known as the ‘Deny Americans the Right to Know Act’ (Dark Act).
We ALL need to tell our legislators to oppose this bill as it has four dangerous components that will interfere with every citizen’s right for truthful and responsible labeling ofGMOs in our food.
